Day 31 Barbour Living Heritage Village

Today was a driving day leaving Twillingate. Fairly good roads and we made it to Newtown where we visited the Barbour Living Heritage Village. This was a set of original buildings form the late 1800 where the Barbour family lived. Nearly all of the artifacts in the building are the original belongings of the family. Newtown is considered the Venice of Newfoundland because of all the small waterways (they call them trickles) that are throughout the town. The Barbour family had 11 children.
The school house.

The main house (was acturally a double) for two brothers.
The kitchen
Notice the bead in the background. This was for the husband when he came in from the sea. It was the warmest place in the house.

First to have running water in the area.

The wallpaper is original.

Sewing Room
Dinning room table only used on special occasions

Stairway for each half of the double.

Parlor

From here it was off to Terra Nova National Park where we got a lovely campsite.
