First stop was the wooden boat building museum. It had just opened 2 weeks ago. The boat builder Troy provide a good description of the process and demonstrated some of the techniques. They were not in full function as they were waiting for a number of items to be delivered.
After that it was a search for a propane detector with no success.
The after noon we drove out to French beach. I should mention the yesterday and today are the hottest have seen on the trip. People here were complaining because they say it never gets that hot here 80+. At the beach a group of kids were swimming. They said it was a little cold by once you became numb all was good. I think we will pass. An iceberg had just drifted into this vantage point around noon today. We may come back here tomorrow to hike to a high point.
Auk Island Winery tour was next on the list. They only make berry wines and no grapes. Some of the products are made with iceberg water. There is a company which goes out and gathers ice, which is then melted and use to make wine. Of course part of the tour was to taste all of their 19 different wines. I think we missed a couple however. Here is a list of their wines:
50 Shades of Bay (Blueberry/Crowberry)
3 Sheets to the Wind (Rhubarb)
Root Cellar (Strawberry/ Rhubarb(
Buccaneer (Crowberry)
3 Sheets to the Wind Red (Blueberry /Crowberry)
12 Gauge (Blend of 12 Berries and Fruits)
Wreckhouse (Partridgeberry Apple)
Mummers' Wine (Cranberry Blueberry)
Jellybean Row (Strawberry Partridgeberry)
Funky Puffin (Blueberry Rhubarb)
Krooked Cod (Blueberry Raspberry)
Moose Joose (Blueberry Partridgeberry)
Blu (Blueberry)
Iceberg Bake Apple
Ol'Blue (house blend)
Iceberg Blueberry
Iceberg Raspberry
Iceberg Cranberry Blueberry
Outport (Raspberry Screech)
Tonight we had tickets to the Twillingate Dinner Theatre. Sue and I both had Cod which was good but not outstanding. The entertainment was good but not as warm as the Split Peas last night. This might have something to do with these people doing this show 6 days a week. The Peas only perform on Tuesday and Thursday.
